Bring your dog to church day.

The Calvary Episcopal Church in Danvers, Mass., is now allowing members of their church to bring their dogs! The first "Perfect Paws Pet Ministry" will be held later this month and once a month there after. Barking is allowed says the minister but mass will be held in a different room of the church.  There will be communion for the humans and special treats for the canines. Owners can submit special prayers for sick animals, dogs that can not be around other dogs and for cats, birds and horses.

UPDATE: After some additional research, this is not the only church that allows dogs. I personally have been to a church event that blesses the animals in the church parking lot but when I came across this story I was amazed they are now allowing animals inside the church. I'm on the fence, though I'm not a big church goer, one side of me thinks it would be cool to bring my dog with me, the other side thinks it would be a huge distraction.

Here's a video on another church I found:

What do you think?

  1. I am one of those people who wants to take my dog EVERYWHERE with me, so I love this. Now, if only I could take him to Walmart....

  6. I have heard of the "Blessings of the Animals" for years and years and at first I thought it was a bit strange but I didn't have a dog then but now that I do, I would love to take Daisy to a blessing and to church (and I'm not a church going gal either) but I think a dog-loving church just might entice me to go to church more often!

  9. Woof! Woof! GREAT! I wish they do allow dogs in my church ... only in special occasions. I know that lots of restaurants that offers outdoor dining accommodate dog owners. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  10. It would make church a lot more interesting, that's for sure! With my luck, though, we'd end up next to some mean little ankle-biter!

  13. I had to laugh at the thought of taking my ten dogs to church. That would sure liven up the sermon.

  14. Our mama lOvEs, LoveS,loVEs us, but said we'd be too much of a distraction in church...Not to mention that she'd want to be checking out all the other pooches, thus not paying attention to the service and worshiping, giving the Lord undivided attention. A special blessing of the animals is cool, but for a regular service,no.
